This month my Net Worthy took a hit, reminding me that this happens all the time to the best of us. The reasons don’t really matter; let’s just say I was triggered by something that opened some old wounds that I thought had been healed long ago.
Surviving life’s wounds is something to be proud of – whether they can be triggered or not, if we’ve worked on ourselves as a result of them, old wounds never fully open again. Rather, they present a new opportunity for growth. Instead of fully falling back into our original pain, we have an opportunity to observe and be aware of our triggers. We can be compassionate with ourselves for having navigated all that. We can breathe a sigh of relief that the past is the past and proudly wear our battle scars.
I also was reminded that, regardless of what’s in our bank accounts today, there is one sure way to increase net worthy: compassionate action.
So, the next time your net worthy takes a hit, ask yourself this question: who can I help today? Whether it is opening a door for someone, simply listening to a friend or indulging in self-care, these “investments” will offer the greatest returns.
