"There is a rule in sailing where the more maneuverable ship should give way to the less maneuverable craft. I think this is sometimes a good rule to follow in human relations as well."

Money Grows In Groups
By Candace Bahr, CEA, CDS

What do women like more than chocolate? Lots of things come to mind, but the surprising answer is… cooperation! Though candy is dandy, an MRI study at Emory University found that women's brains light up with pleasure when helping each other.

This study explains women's attraction to group endeavors -- book clubs, investment clubs, weight loss groups. We love to join together and help each other succeed.

Friendships between women are special, so why not use that power to set goals and stay on track financially? That concept led us three years ago to develop the free non-profit Money Clubs. While investment clubs focus on buying and selling stocks, Money Clubs cover the 360 degrees of women's lives, and they really work.

Take Sharlyn in Temecula, CA who is in her early fifties and manages a landscape office. She discovered our free website www.MoneyClubs.com, and started The Gold Diggers Money Club. Using the 33 Money Zones from the website, they've explored many different financial issues, from money attitudes to retirement planning.

Sharlyn says that her money mindset has changed since starting the Money Club meetings. With the help of others in the group, she discovered the benefits of paying down her mortgage. To capture extra funds, she learned from others in the group how to shave expenses. She uses coupons to double the savings at the grocery store, and making her own lattes at home saves $6 per week. She's paid off her credit cards, and now the extra funds go into a retirement account for her future.

Clubmember Cindy, a single mom in her early 40s, refinanced her house to get a better interest rate. Cindy is attending retirement seminars, and is saving money by judiciously purchasing groceries on sale in smaller quantities so she won't have so much waste.

The Gold Diggers found that getting together with girlfriends is not only fun but profitable. That's why 15.62% of respondents to a recent survey by Citigroup's Women & Co. said they had formed a financial support network. Money Clubs have led the way. There are now nearly 200 in-person Money Clubs nationwide, 500 women participating in on-line clubs, and over 50,000 people who are taking charge of their lives the Money Club way.

Starting your own Money Club® is powerful concept that can change your financial life, and it's all there for you to use for free. So give it a try and let us know how it works for you.

Now, what would happen if we got together to eat chocolate…

Join with others. Amazing things happen in the Money Club.
